FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CAPITALIZE FOR KIDS KICKS OFF THE ANNUAL BAY STREET GAMES COMPETITION

TORONTO, ON – The 6th Annual Bay Street Games will take place on Thursday June 8th, 2023, at University of Toronto’s Varsity Centre.

Bay Street Games started in 2018 with only 9 teams, and in a span of only six years the event has grown by an astounding 433%. In 2023, we are welcoming 48 teams, with over 300 participants, volunteers, and staff not only from Bay Street Firms and the Financial sector, but also friends, family, and the larger community.

For 2023, Capitalize for Kids has a goal of raising $400,000 dollars which will support their impact work to increase capacity and reduce wait times for kids’ mental health agencies across Ontario and beyond. “With the help of local partnering gyms, 48 teams will be put through 4 rounds of cross-fit inspired exercises with the goal of earning the title ‘Bay Street’s fittest firm”, says Lucia Liscio, Managing Director, Business Development at Capitalize for Kids. The event kicks off at 11:45 am and concludes with a celebration nearby.

Capitalize for Kids began in 2014 as a charitable investors conference that raised $1 million for the Centre for Brain and Mental Health at SickKids Hospital. “Today, we are a growing community of financial services professionals rallying our friends, families, and firms to support kids’ mental health”, added Liscio. Capitalize for Kids’ impact model involves consulting with mental health service providers to identify opportunities to increase service quality, build capacity, and reduce waitlists. Ultimately, they seek to help more kids access the care they need when and where they need it.

To date, Capitalize for Kids has raised over $15 million for children and youth mental health agencies across Ontario.
