Capitalize for Kids is pleased to be welcoming Angela Simo Brown as President & Chief Executive Officer effective October 10, 2023.

“We are delighted to have Angela bring her skills, experience, and energy to help us grow Capitalize for Kids as we help youth mental health service providers deliver more resources to a population in need” comments Board co-chair and co-founder Jeff Gallant. “By scaling our solutions, and making learnings available to all agencies, it means that kids and families can spend less time looking for help and more time getting it.”

Simo Brown brings over 30 years in both private and not for profit sector roles. Most recently, she served as the Executive Director and Vice President of Partner Solutions Group, Social  Impact Programs at MaRS Discovery District, where she leads a team that focuses on building and growing signature social impact and innovation programs to drive systems change in youth employment and ethical AI.

Prior to this, Simo Brown worked at AirMiles and LoyaltyOne for more than 20 years, culminating in the position of Associate Vice President & General Manager of Social Impact Strategy and Innovation. In this role, she founded and ran two strategic incentive programs for employees, sponsors and Air Miles Collectors focused on healthy living. She also co-founded and led Air Miles for Social Change, an innovative, multi-partner, multi-sector, national social impact program focused on rewarding millions of Canadians for making healthy and sustainable choices. An engaging and collaborative leader, Simo Brown looks forward to working with partners, advisors, donors, and staff to grow the impact of Capitalize for Kids.

Simo Brown comments “Youth mental health is the urgent social crisis of our day. Unfortunately more and more young people are seeking mental health support but are facing barriers to getting the help they need. I’m excited to join the Capitalize for Kids team to build off our successes todate so all children and youth in Canada can access the mental health services they need when they need it.”

Simo Brown holds an Bachelor degree in Honours Business Administration from the Ivey School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Western University. Angela has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network as a Trailblazer and Trendsetter. She has completed the Rotman-ICD Governance Essentials Program for not-for-profit organizations, and has been an active volunteer and advisory board member with community organizations such FoodShare Toronto, Summerlunch+, Food Allergy Canada, Children First Canada, and the Canadian Council for Youth Prosperity.
