Leader. Author. Singer.

With a dynamic schedule, Carla Harris will now be the day two opening keynote and Mark Carney will be closing out the day.

Carla is vice chairman of wealth management and senior client advisor at Morgan Stanley, a career that has spanned almost 35 years. Previously, she headed the emerging manager platform at Morgan Stanley, and the equity capital markets effort for the consumer and retail industries. Carla’s talents know few bounds–from author to gospel singer with four sold-out shows at Carnegie Hall to accomplished investment banker and President Barack Obama’s appointee as chairperson of the National Women’s Business Council. With two degrees from Harvard, she possesses academic depth matched with far-reaching and wide-ranging life experience, which she pulls together to help her formulate “Carla’s Pearls.”

Her accomplishments inside and outside of Wall Street have been recognized far and wide—Fortune named her among The 50 Most Powerful Black Executives in Corporate America; Black Enterprise named her one of the Top 50 African Americans on Wall Street; Essence named her among The 50 Women Who are Shaping the World; and Harvard’s Black Men’s Forum named her Woman of the Year in 2004.

Beyond her leadership role at Morgan Stanley, Carla has been instrumental in supporting the community. She has invested time and money into the New York City Food Ban, A Better Chance and Concern Worldwide, and she suggests that people need to be intentional in giving back, not because they will get something in return.
